I think there are both animals and Pokèmon in their world, but they belong to a different “domain” and just imitated the shapes and lifestiles of the regular animals and plants. And when humans made a deal with Pokèmon, they decided of never eat them, only eat animals and plant-made food, and animals were mostly kept in ranchs as technology progressed and so did Pokèmon training. As animals became more of an endangered species, people in the 19th and 20th centuries invented way to clone meat so they can make “fake meat” that is not animal meat but is made in factories.
I always try not to think about “meat” in the Pokemon world. Just confuses me.
