SMAAAASH!!

About SMAAAASH!!

SMAAAASH!! (four A's and two exclamation points) is a webcomic by Sam Laurel. Most webcomics seem to be about video gaming. So is SMAAAASH!!. IT's a little different from some of the more popuar ones--it doesn't have any original characters except for some elves and occasional comics about real life. I named it after the graphic that appears when you get a critical hit in the MOTHER series of RPGs.

Yeah. So the title's not really mine. The characters aren't either. That all belongs to whoever made the subject game. Usually Nintendo. The funny is all mine though, and you bet your liver I drew all the comics with my very own right hand. Which I bought from a pirate, of course.

The comics tend to focus on irony, puns, and various peculiarities in games. I try to make them as easy to understand as they can be without damaging the comedic quality. Brevity is the soul of wit, after all. If you don't understand a comic, sorry. I note the game or games to which each comic is relevant in the archive. One of the reasons is so that if you wanted to play the game from which the comic originated, you can easily look it up.

I don't update on a schedule. I upload the comics when they're finished. How fast I can finish a comic depends on how much is in it and how much I want it done. I have to participate in the robotic system known as high school and I spend a lot of time gaming and sleeping. That's why sometimes you'll wait over a week for a new one, and another comes some two days later. Check back often.

I want to be a game artist when I'm older. Video games have always been a source of inspiration to me an I didn't realize it until a while ago. And I have such a passion for gaming that to simply be a cartoonist wouldn't be enough for me. I want to see my works alive. Concept art would be great, but why stop there if I could also work with world design, 3-D character design and the whole thing? So, I have this comic, I work with Super Smash Bros. Brawl textures on Stack Smash (and I really love that), and I want to retexture and stylize Paper Mario.

Webcomics I like include F@nb0y$, Brawl in the Family, Awkward Zombie, The Slackerz, and some others. The rest of the list escapes me.

If you want to ask me something or comment or whatever, you can e-mail me at wheresdezzer@gmail.com. I will not make a comic by request for two reasons: I already make my own ideas faster than I can make a comic, and I don't like taking the ideas.
