SMAAAASH!!

Eye Vinegar

Everything I have to say about the graphics for Ranch, the upcoming "Melee! Whatever" and Mystery Dungeon trio. Just that one word. I mean the comic is basically saying that I could draw sprites for everything needed for the game and not finish--it'd still look better.

But I'd rather have it be a full game (on a disc) wih a graphical direction the frachise has never seen. Twilight Princess-quality, or better. Not super-photo-realistic, I know THAT doesn't work... but, you know...

Edit on 10/18: Well lookie there (that is, Google PokéPark)... there IS going to be a new game that isn't part of the main series, isn't a Stadium/Colloseum/Battle Revolution game, has no Ranch graphics, and does something new with the franchise. Not quite what I was thinking of, and for all I know it could end up being total crap in the end... but hey. More as it develops. Until I know more, I'll just praise the originality and the graphics.

I've been thinking, lately, that Nintendo is seriously squandering the Pokémon franchise. What've we got... the main series, and all it has to live for is remakes for the first three generations. Snap. Mystery Dungeon. That's it, and then there's a buttload of spin-offs that are either anime-based, puzzle games, or not worth playing (though I hear good things about Ranger).

Let's look at the facts for a series like The Legend of Zelda. Specifically, the very basis of the series as bare-bones as it can be: Idealized medieval epic. The most you can truly do with it and expect good results... is the main series of adventure games. TINGLE.

Now, let's look at the premise of Pokémon in the most basic of terms: Animals with superpowers. What can't you do with that? Why isn't there a Pokémon game with real-time 3-D combat? Why not create something the series has really never seen before?
